gggrrr when gloss painting
when gloss painting where does the dust and hair suddenly appear from?
Not coming from the brush, not coming from the tin. I've dusted, I've wiped down, I've hovered, I've wiped down again but blow me down there's a hair or spec of dust to be removed macafee2 |

Usually IF I gloss there will always be some sort of insect that will come along and get stuck to the wet paint.

Ive just painted a dresser and a kitchen cupboard, I used Farrow and Ball satin finish water based paint. Lovely finish almost a pleasure to paint with, it's very tough, I sanded down between coats and did not break through to the base coat, brilliant stuff, a bit pricey but I think worth the extra. And no problem with dust or insects, as it dries in no time.

Years ago we lived in a house that had a small porch at the front door, our dog loved to sit on the bench in it and watch the world go by. My father painted the woodwork in the porch but didn't close the door to allow the air to circulate. There was a trail of white footprints from the porch, along the hall to the kitchen and the dog had a white bum! Needless to say a repaint was required.

Always use a tack cloth after wiping down and just before you paint. Dry cloths will not remove everything.

I'm going to have to wet n dry the door, too much dust in the paint. quite disappointed.
about 10 - 12 years ago it would have been impossible to have painted in our house and not get dust in the paint, we were doing so much renovation work. macfee2 |
