Are there really 10 years old beamers that are still running?...........:

BMW is just as any other mass produced car. Just as reliable or just as troublesome.

Normally people that value the badge tend to skip the quality part.
People that like cars see beyond the badge.

The MG ZT design changes from the Rover 75 were done by Peter Stevens [bodywork] and Rob Oldaker [chassis design].

Perer Stevens joined MG Rover after BMW sold the company to the Phoenix 4.

The concept of the Sport 75 was shown at the Geneva motor show in 2000 from which the ZT evolved.

All the work on the ZT 260 was done under MG Rover ownership.

The Rover 75 V8 was a desire by MG Rover to produce a latter day Rover 75 Vitesse.

Engineering isnt just about reliability, its also about fit, finish, efficiency and design.

Well you still largely do. The suspension, brakes electrics and other things are basically still of BMW origin as they are on all 75s and ZTs.

BMW, technically better..............still has recalls
Merc, not realy
Jag, mmmmmmmhh

ZT was built under BMW ownership, not every ones cup of tea, but at least it meant the electrics and finish are up to par with the best of them

The reason the ZT ended up with the Mustang engine was partly because the LS1 was already dedicated to the Monaro and partly because BMW didn't want a direct competitor to the M5.

Technically not with the best?.................I beg to differ............
Look at at you can get for £7k now, almost any aspect you want to look at you can buy something superior, in allot of cases superior in all ways (other than being rare). Logically whether you look at fuel economy, power, seed, acceleration, handling, ride, interior space ... You wouldn't spend 7k on a
V8 ZT or 75

It may have a mustang V8, but its not really a very good one, 260bhp from 4.6L ...

As I said before though, I'd still love one ... Just not sure I could afford to run one for 15-20k miles a year

Default Why is the V8 so expensive?.

Having looked at the posts I can say that I agree, BMW were very well made cars, years ahead in engineering quality, but that all finished with the E34 model, having had 3 BMW 525IX Touring, they were light years ahead in quality and refinement, not so about the newer models.
MGZT 260 having had 3 and currently have a supercharged ZTT, they hold there prices because they are a very good car especially for long trips, and in supercharged form will eat BMW's, and before you drag them down try owning one, then we will respect your comments based on ownership

As much as I love the 260 I'm in the 'too much for too little' camp im afraid.

If i was looking for a big V'ee then at half the budget of the 260 I would be looking at a 2000-2003 750 V12. I had one a few years ago and loved it to bits.

Then if you want to stretch to the average price that the 260 seems to sell for then you would be looking at a 760.

Now tell me that the 260's engineering/tech/build quality/value for money is better than this....
