Nelson Mandela
Its been announced on the news, his condition has deteriorated and he is now critical.
Sounds like he won't be around for much longer, he comes across as a very decent sort of fella, such a shame he should have to suffer like this in his latter years, especially when there are so many evil scumbags in the world. The leader of his country being one of them. I hope perhaps he will recover and live the rest of his days in better health, but it doesn't look like it.

Rest assured he is getting the best medical treatment money can buy, it may be a 3rd world country, but private medical is as good as it is here. Even if the ambulance did break down on it's way to the hospital-took 40 minutes to get another there. No one expected him to live this long, especially after his years in jail. I shudder to think what is going to happen when he does die, his daughters are already arguing over his money. Zuma is just biding his time.....

Sad news indeed, hope he pulls through, he does seem a really decent man, we will cross our fingers for him.

Seems others on another forum don't agree, saying he was a terrorist and killed many by blowing up trains etc

Viewpoint will often depend on age and memories of the time, UK recently agreed payout to those tortured in Mau-Mau risings, just like any other time in history there are always two sides, hence opposing viewpoints.

Be mindful that the MK (armed wing of the ANC, founded by Nelson Mandela was disbanded as recently as 1990) and were directly responsible for over 200 civilian murders ok 1990 was 23 years ago, but 911 was 12 years ago, I very much doubt that in 10 years time people would have been saying 'seems a good chap, that bin laden guy' should he have lived and turned to politics.

Several other 'freedom fighters' of the time also turned to politics, and largely their 'crimes' have also been forgotten, not the place to name names, but am sure for those interested it's not hard to find on a search. Strange then 'ours' have not been, and we had to offer a settlement only in past few weeks.
