Number plate keeps falling off!

OK, this may sound like a bit of a daft one but how in the hell can I attach my rear number plate to the back of my ZT-T without it wanting to leave again?!!!!! I've changed my private plate between loads of cars now and never had a problem but for some reason the plate's fallen off the back of my tourer 3 times now. So far I've tried several sets of the halfords sticky pads, almost and entire reel of double sided sticky foam and even superglue!
In desperation I think I'm going to have to resort to screws, in which case am I OK just to drill a couple of pilot holes and then use self tappers or would a hot glue gun be better?

No Nails?

I had this problem with my Tourer, try cleaning the Area with a good degreasant first. I cheated and used the already available screw holes

where is the bond failing? Is it between the pads and the paint. Have you tried a really good solvent clean of the paint area

It seems to fail on both the plate and the paint, some of the pads are still stuck to the plate and some to the car

The previous stickies did manage to hold it on for almost a year but the cold of winter seems to have had an effect. I wonder if the fact it's still cold when I'm trying to re-stick it could be causing the trouble?

How about Velcro? The two sides can probably get a more consistent bond to their respective surface? Just an idea heh.

No More Nails on a roll, clean & degrease everything thoroughly first. Works fine for me.

I'm pretty sure it is recommended to apply this sticky foam at 12degrees or above. Use a bit of glass cleaner on the car and the plate and dry before applying.

That would work.

It is also best to put the strips on as an inverted "V", in several places.
This stops water getting trapped which degrades the adhesive
