Default Door Lock

Hello, yes these can be fun to do, but worth the effort to get it sorted.
Indeed it does sound as if the mechanism has become u/s. If this is the case from my experience, its the door card off, ensure the window is all the way up ! now remove the door membrane and look for the mechanism, on the edge nearest the door skin you will see a white plastic cylindrical clamp, this needs to be gently prised open for the door handle actuator to be released, if the handle pin comes away from its handle it can be a right *** to get back into the handle so be careful! The next rod to undo is the lock pin one, which if I remember correctly just pulls away from a claw type of clip from the mechanism. When these are done, remove the 3 torx screws from the door edge outer area and the mechanism will be free to remove, the inner door handle cable can remain on or be removed but I think it is in a cramped position so can only be undone when mechanism is free. Unplug the wiring loom from the mechanism, then ready for a cuppa and a few ciggys! As the famous manuals say at the end of each task "Refitting is a simple reversal of removal process"
The first time can be a real pain to do, but take your time and it should go well for you, Good luck.

Almost certainly the lock mechanism.
I'm in the same predicament, only my door won't lock via the remote.
I've not long had it fitted either, to replace a lock that wouldn't unlock.

I used a second hand one, but now believe this to be a mistake.
Hence I've ordered a new one from Rimmer Bros.
£81.53 delivered. Not cheap, but hopefully it'll sort the problem totally.

It looks very similar, but how are they cheaper?
The example you give is a used one currently at £27.

You can get them cheaper on here

I can confirm that the Landrover Freelander Lock Drivers Door Locking Mechanism is identical. I replaced mine about a month ago and got it from my nearest Landrover Dealership. Was much cheaper than rimmers and they had it in stock for same day collection. Happy Days!
