Replacement Tweeters That Fit oem holes?
Onto replacing the front Tweeters now....
Please can anybody suggest any that will fit oem mounting hole (I think 39/40mm) using standard grilles or similar. Want to keep the original look with no drilling out if possible. Would like Tweeters with a quality but 'Natural' sound - not harsh or shrill. Thanks |

Just to add these are to go with Focal 165 components using the Focal crossover (put my new Kenwood's in the rear).

if you have focal components why aren't you using the tweeters that came with the pack ?
They are matched to the mid-bass units so you couldn't get a better matching sound. |

Because personally I think the Focal Tweeters are the weak link and
sound pretty harsh..... besides I'm pretty sure they will not fit flush and the aperture would need drilling out a few mm |

well they do need opening slightly. I used a 44mm holesaw, very easy to do.
Sure they don't sit flush but i doubt any would without you getting rid of the factory tweeter part without removing/damaging the grill bit and then epoxy in others behind. Should be fairly easy to acheive. Focals are stunning speakers but as i've mentioned in my ICE build, they are no good if there is not a sub in the system as they do as you say sound harsh, but to me they are just doing what they are supposed to extremely well. You can turn the trim level down on the Focal crossovers which may be enough to lose some of the harshness you mention. |
