That sort of thing has been going on for years, and google only look into it now?

I know of at least 20 computers over the last year that were infected with such "spyware" by the owners siblings looking for and downloading so called "free" porn, mp3's and software etc. (at least they are blaming them anyway )

Common sense tells us there is no such thing as a free lunch, and any offer on the internet that looks too good to be true, usually isn't

We've all been told to do it, but never the less, it needs to be said that a decent firewall AND antivirus software is essential in todays world-wide-wubble.

Now we wait for GG to come along and be smug about Apple Mac's....

GG must have missed it but...............

Apple Macs have hardly any problems and those found are very quickly sorted unlike Windows which have Security Flaws left for weeks/months even years quite Often.

As has been said on PC's:
A GOOD anti virus program running all the time with daily update checks.
A Hardware Firewall.
If using a Wireless Connection to Internet ensure Security is switched on, not done automatically.
A good Spyware Program with frequent scans of your system.
Any EMail that asks for your details saying from Banks and that sort of thing just Delete!
Don't click on Links in Unknown EMails, for example EBay go to "My EBay" yourself and log in, don't use the Link its after your details.

I'm not jealous....

Really, I'm not....

[has a sneaky look to see if firewall on router is enabled and working and that software firewall and antivirus programs are doing what they should be doing]

It never ceases to amaze me how many folks have unsecured wireless networks. I recently configured a wireless network for my sister and her family and her eldest's boyfriend wanted to know how he could configure his laptop to use the network. I ran the Windows Wireless Network Wizard on his machine and the scan discovered several unprotected wireless networks...

There are script-kiddie apps out there that can intercept data streams and potentially unscramble packets so any unencrypted data is vulnerable.

If anyone has a wireless network and is unsure of it's security, I'm happy to pass on tips and advice. There are 'golden rules', firewalls/anti-virus are just part of them.

We've gone into many Wireless Networks, Installed Keyloggers Etc and then presented Company or Private Individual with Critical Information, its not just using your Internet connection!
You would be surprised the Business people that aren't secured, more so home networks. We have been watching Companies CCTV over their Networks and recording it, not just amusing sometimes but also in the wrong hands you can see whats covered etc. Doing Network Security Checks reveal so much. Madness!

Around here there is one wireless network (mine) mainly as most of the houses around here are occupied by "older" people and the few family's with young children that use broadband have wired connections, but at my mates house there are about 6 and i afraid to say he has quite happily downloaded files using their bandwidth. So its not just security, if you have limited downloads, somebody could be nicking your allocation....
