T4
I was thinking about buying a T4 Diagnostic Tool and I just wondered, what would be a fair sort of price to charge for its use.
kind regards billy |

Depends how well you can use it - it's not the tool, it's the experience and knowledge of the operator that counts. If you've never used one before and have ideas of tracing faults and repairing ECU, and programing keys (properly) then for a while you'll have to just risk your own paperweights (I mean cars) or pay others to let you mess about with their pride and joy.

Very true. There are a couple of T4s at garages close to me but how well they know them is another matter. Unless I was desperate I'd rather have one of the guys here, especially with it being a cantankerous V8

As said before, unless you've used one before, and more importantly know how to interpret what it is telling you there is little point in buying a T4, especially as you are unlikely to ever recoup the purchase cost XPart agents generally charge circa £50 per session, I don't charge anywhere near that, if at all which very much depends upon how I'm feeling. As Brian and Gary have said there isn't any great market for T4 work these days
I'm lucky if I get to use mine once a fortnight and that includes all the specialist work involving other equipment and programmes. Russ

As said by others, its how you as a user interpret the information, and your understanding of correct and incorrect data. Otherwise your just going to cause expensive problems for yourself or others.
The best T4 operates I know of are all active on this club, so I would say advice they offer on this thread would be the best advice you could receive, Mick

I/we have had one 19 months now and I have only used it about 10 times to diagnose varying faults on my MGZT one being the ABS fault, saved lots of faffing about, it is mainly used at the nano meets we have by my son.
I never get to lay my hands on it but will be using it the weekend to add a MK2 BCU to my MGZT for the fob operating boot lift
