Default wipers and alarm going off by themselves

The windscreen wipers have started up and the car alarm has gone off on my 2005 CDT.
I have checked the plenum and that is fine.
For now I have disconnected the battery. The car has not moved for a week or two but there was heavy rain last night.

Any pointers on where to look please?

thanks

The BCU is common to both Ian.

Thanks Simon, I hope I don't have to strip this much down to get to it

and I sure as heck could not programme

How will I know before I change it, if the BCU is the problem? Will a T4 session tell me?

Do you have the highline sat nav with the drives in the boot? If so check they are not wet. Had this on one of mine before where the drives were wet and the wipers wouldn't turn off and the car wouldn't lock/unlock.

Hi Rick, no, no sat nav.

Check that water hasn’t got into the door wiring plugs. I had it on one of mine and it was setting the wipers off randomly

Hi Ian,

What I was getting at (in an oblique way) is that it could be a K-bus problem.

When I had this happen it was the bonnet switch. I’d driven down the M6 in torrential rain and this started about 2 hours after parking up.
