Default bike problem

Hi guys
I have a liberty 125, this bike had been laid up for 2 years buy with a bit of fettling i've had it running sweet until yesterday, i ran out of fuel so I pulled into a garage and filled up I only had a mile to go to get home but that used half a tank I see no leaks what could begoing on

Hi John, one thing that springs to mind with the bike being laid up then running out of fuel is the float in the carburetor may be stuck.

That you sorted then? I ran bikes for about 20 years before I got round to getting a car.

You might want to inspect the inside of the tank to as they can go inside
If it looks pretty manky a good tank seal
Remove the petrol tap also

Also being laid up for a while inspect the diaphragm in the carb closely.tiny pin holes can appear and be a pain when you least expect it

stripped carb and gave it a good clean and on riding it today all is fine . I had rinsed the tank so all god there no rust as its plastic

Excellent. One of the weirdest bike related problems I had was when I did up an old Norton Commando. It was running rich and I couldn't fathom out why. Guy I knew at work had worked on old Brit bikes, he asked if I had replaced the carb bowl gaskets, which I had. He said to take them off, shave about 1mm off the inside edge of them as they expand when they are new and the float catches on them! Did what he said, solved the problem
