Cool A cheeky weekend away with..................

................................. The Bear in sunny Salisbury, OK so it's not sunny here in fact it is rather wet. Faultless journey up although storm Dennis tried his level best to spoil the fun. Lots of water everywhere but not a drop to drink, so the saying goes.

Cannot believe the idiots that still drive so fast and without lights on. Saw two accidents involving one car at each crash. Too fast and you are going to aquaplane. Both accidents involved BMWs. First one was on the A38 and the car had bounced off of the crash barrier and gone ploughing into a field. Both occupants were out of the car. The second one was more of a total wreck. Ripped two wheels off after again colliding with the barrier. All the air bags had gone of. No point me stopping as there were other cars that had stopped. Think the driver was still in the car though.

Anyhow we are safely here, the Bear was sure footed in the rain. Kept our speed down.
Now waiting for my friends to arrive from Kent. Then food and maybe a beer or two. Tomorrow sees us at the Gin distillery for a few samples. Staying over then home on Monday. Hopefully the plumber will have finished the bathroom by then.
Must admit it does look good.

Nothing wrong with RWD Andy. It’s the bl00dy idiots behind the wheel.

Cool The tour of the Gin Distillery..........................

............................................ was my birthday present from my friends. Loved the tour, we done the self help tour that involves you doing the tour at your own speed. Plenty of voice points around the site. Only John and I done the tour as John Louis is far too young to be allowed in. So he and Lisa sat in the bar area, upper section and waited for us there. They had books with stickers to keep the little man busy.

The tour took nearly two hours, we did have a part of the tour where we had to be taken into the "stills" area by a guide. Absolutely fascinating place. Really enjoyed the experience. We got to sniff all the various ingredients. Then we were each given a card and choose the ingredients we would like in our cocktail at the end of the tour. And that was something else.

I highly recommend the tour at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Whitchurch near Andover. Worth a visit, pity the weather was a bit naff but never mind.

As for the hotel well less said the better. The rooms were ok but the bar staff were on a different planet, and as for the restaurant staff, well they were just a joke. The food was ok but the service was atrocious. Dinner or breakfast was the same sloppy service. We have all complained. We'll wait and see if anything transpires.

My trip home was uneventful, the Bear took it all in her stride. I did let her off the leash in the dry sections of the road, only up to Warp Factor 3 and a bit. Round trip of 274 miles.

I haven't been to any of them.

Several years ago I went over on a trip to Dublin and went to the Jameson's Distillery, that was amazing.
Plus on the same day to the Guiness Factory.
I was well happy after visiting those two.
