Default Saloon 75 boot lid removal -how do you do it?

Hi,
I have a gold Rover 75 (paint GMN) that has previously had a spoiler fitted. I'd like to find a good second hand boot lid and fit it. First though, how difficult a job is this please? Can the wiring loom be disconnected and if so where is the join?

I'm hoping it will be easy BTW anyone know where I can find a decent boot in the Berks area nr Reading?

Many thanks,

James

From memory the power supply to the lock just unclips (which you're going to have to do anyway in order to transfer your existing barrel assembly) and the number plate light panel just pops out and disconnects from the back. Make sure you make a note of how the wires are routed when you pull them through, including any grommets that will need replacing (since it's often easier just to cut old ones off and fit new ones). Nothing else electrical attached to the lid is there? When you fit the new one it's probably worth enlisting a second pair of hands to make sure it gets put on straight and then make sure the buffer rubbers are correctly adjusted so it releases nice and smoothly. Oh ... and remember to re-fit the lock barrel the right way round.

Before I remove boots or bonnets, I always mark around the hinge fixings with a fine marker pen to assist with alignment on refitting. Even if you are fitting a replacement, it gives you a good idea where the hinges should be relative to the boot/bonnet.
