Default Viton O rings (CDT) - always 'fit and forget'?

I noticed while changing my lower engine mount yesterday that the undertray was oily in that corner and it seems that the viton o rings I fitted 10k ago seem to be leaking. I'll have the bumper off next weekend to renew them but wondered if others have had them fail?

A couple of thoughts.....

I got mine off ebay, maybe they aren't up to the quality of the main suppliers we use? Can't recall the seller.

I've got the 3 ring kit from dmgrs on order.....any experiences of this mod?

I know you can fit without removing the bumper, but I think I'd rather be able to see what's going on.

Cheers,
Keith.

There seem to be lots of parts that don't last like the "old" stuff! Years of expertise, manufacturing quality, long life parts etc., were lost during the closure of UK car manufacturing. It will take the new world suppliers years to do the product testing and subsequent quality improvemnts - or maybe they don't want to as it means a constant turnover when things fail prematurely!

He fitted mine about seven years ago and they are still working well...

A big issue with it is the arrangement for attaching the plastic elbow to the intercooler outlet. As a mechanical setup, it's pathetic. Even with proper orings, this joint is always prone to leakage. Triple orings, Jubilee clips, welded elbows, etc. have all been tried as a way to fix it. The MGR design is for a single oring, never mind two or three.

2 good quality Viton rings are fine, just drill a small hole front and back directly between the rings and fit a stainless self tapping screw through both, the joint will NEVER move and leak..
