One of those times when a working car cam's video might have proven to be invaluable, other wise its their word against yours. It is though much more likely that he would have pulled in too early - not seeing you, than you would pull out with him slightly ahead of you in your full vision.

Whether the police are bothered or not - and they won't be unless there is serious physical injury - report the incident to the police and always suspect the other driver of being drunk or under the influence . That will get an incident number for the insurance company, although the police are unlikely to do much else without witnesses which they won't bother to seek out. Remember that nothing is obvious to any third party (e.g. insurer/solicitor) looking into an accident so spell every tiny detail out precisely and as clear as you can then sit back and be prepared to settle 50/50 anyway.
One other thing unless absolutely necessary don't under any circumstance claim against your own insurance. Once you do then it's them that will attempt to recover damages from the third party and they are much more likely to settle for a 50/50 than you will and this can affect your premiums later. Claim from the third party insurer directly (or through your legal support). Good luck.

Thanks everyone for all the advice and posts. My damage is on the o/s rear wing, bumper and wheel. I have front and rear cameras, NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-'s law, the rear camera started working as we were pulling after exchanging details, the front camera file shows we were in lane one in a straight line. As he drifted into my lane my car can be seen lurching to the n/side and then me stopping. His insurance have said they will repair my car free of charge and give me a courtesy car. It is being picked up on Tuesday to go to Manchester to be assessed. John.

Sounds like the driver has admitted liability which is good however be careful the insurance don't declare your car beyond economical repair.
Why couldn't they asses the car at your home?

I don't know, this is my first accident in 53 years driving, so I haven't a clue how these things work. I have heard there is a possibility that they will write my car off because of the rear suspension being damaged. John.

It's still my car, can't I stop them scrapping it?. The car is mine, I must have some opinion. I have a walnut steering wheel, a Navall 2 fitted, a recently fitted ubp, a week old battery fitted. Any advice please?. Thanks, John.

Your "legal cover" are in fact your insurers legal reps, in the advent of a claim they will act in your insurers best interest..... And that may not be in yours..
I was told this by my insurers legal dept (by email)... Makes you wonder why you pay extra for legal cover eh....... ... |
