Default HGF but not Rover!

Hi guys, my daughter has a Ford Fiesta 1.4tdi. This car has been nothing but a pain in the perverbial since January.

She was driving home, the car dumped all it's water and the only warning she got was when the thing overheated and died! I went to rescue her, put water in the car and saw it all dumping out the bottom. The car was recovered.

She said as soon as the car heated up, she pulled over, garaged "tested" it and diagnosed water pump and thermostat housing. as they are made of plastic, seemed possible. Car fixed, ran and tested.

Less than 200 miles later, car back on side of the road. Oil all over inside of bonnet and around expansion tank (externally). same garage diagnose oil breather or pump (not sure as I didn't see the bill), extensive work, re-built and again running.

Last week and less than 1000 miles, car now dead again on the M4. RAC recovery, water out the top once engine turned over, head gasket failure. Car is now off the road again.

I know there are some excellent HGF guru's on here, so, who's up for a challenge? I would scrap it, but she needs a car, I don't trust anyone local. Anyone in South Wales area want to have a look or go? What sort of cost?

Feel free to chip in!

What model of fiesta is it? The current shape or the older box like one?

It's a 2011, last facelift, so the better shape

Not much help I know, but a friend had an 04 1.4 TDCi.
Was an absolute nightmare, as this was the PSA diesel known for injector sealing issues. 3 times I did that job!

I would recommend replacing the ford with a Honda Civic, Nissan micra, or similar type of car...

Can remember some issues with cooling fan not working and failing about 30-40,000 miles, also coolant pipes (mainly Radiator ones at both ends) just coming off, we replaced the spring type hose clamps with normal screw type ones and this seemed to cure a lot of faults. Also faulty coolant pressure caps not holding pressure in the system and water boiling at normal 100 degrees.
