Default Coolant for diesel

Rebuilding my new tourer, at the moment, and it's now time to fill it with coolant. Eurocarparts are recommending this stuff:
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ro...793d59f&000397

Anyone used it, or should I be getting something else?

The red or Pink OAT is what was recommended and used by MG-Rover so that is what I use. I buy the concentrate and buy some distilled water and mix my own.

Changed my ZTT's coolant a few months ago and it was the red/pink OAT that I used Fraser

Ditto.

I use GM pink/OAT coolant plus distilled water in all my cars - about £17 for 5 litres form the Vauxhall dealerships.

Had the same issue a few weeks back, ECP recommend the purple when doing the online checker, but when spoke to a sales person they said the website is just generic and he delved deeper and said the Pink (as everyone else has said) is the correct stuff. Asda sell the distilled water for a £1 atm and then just mix your own.

The purple type is an OAT formula based on a mixture of glycerine and ethylene glycol instead of just glycol. It's more expensive for some reason since the underlying commercial factor is the worldwide glut of glycerine. This stems from biodisel manufacture. The marketing angle is the lower toxicity of the mixture because glycerine is edible, but EG is poisonous. Of course the presence of an equal amount of EG hardly renders the stuff non-toxic. Basically, it's abut half as toxic as straight EG antifreeze.

The purple type is widely used nowadays. For example it's the same as Volkswagen's G12/G13 spec. and is suitable for any engine where OAT is specified.

I enjoyed reading that post and loved the level of detail and knowledge, however I can confirm I unfortunately only understood 2 bits of it: 'Pink' and 'Purple'

Why not go for the non water coolant, only cost you about £100 but you wont ever need to change it....

I'm on blue, but that's only because I had access to a large amount for very little cost, and I've read of the OAT eating the rubber seals on the CDTi engine.
