Default Autobahn speeds lots of black smoke

At speeds that can't be achieved on UK roads my ZTT cdti which has a BigRuss remap smokes like a trooper (110mph plus)

Just wondering if it could be the O Rings??

I'd expect any diesel to emit some smoke at that speed. If it looks excessive, why not start by renewing the orings and take it from there.

I doubt it's the "O" rings, why would an air leak to the outside prior to the air intake do that? More likely to be the MAF or PCV filter...

Fortes Injector cleaner may solve the problem...

I had smoke but Jules cured mine by removing the synergy after MarinaBrian did the 160BHP upgrade. No smoke at any speed now.

Its is all relative, 110mph how often do you run at this speed, and for how long, in other words is the car 'used to this kind of speeds? as black smoke is due to overfuelling, clean injectors, new air filter, new fuel filter clean or better change PCV filter and if you dont drive the car vigorously on a regular basis the exhaust will smoke when you do until the build up of soot is reduced.
Finally a word to the wise, and don't take it the wrong way, don't drive at 110mph not a good idea.

Check for any sign of oil around the intercooler elbow - a slight leak may not give noticeable smoke at normal speeds, but may open up under heavy load.

Black smoke is due to overfuelling, and the prime cause is insufficient air present to burn the available fuel being injected.

You need to check the integrity of the air intake system first and foremost here, as deficiency in this area will give the symptoms you describe.

So intercooler hoses, o rings, EGR MAP sensor, them MAF sensor

Strangely enough, I can't really see the air path from looking through the grille.
The end of the concertina flexi is sandwiched between the two metal bits at the top of the bumper.

Where does the air enter the concertina from?

The surrounding atmosphere

Compressed air being forced in by the turbocharger is being compromised in the case of the OP

They fitted a water shedder plate in front of the inlet to prevent water droplets being injested when it rained, as they found that some could get through the air filter and contaminate the MAF over time.
