Default The buttertubs pass

Well today I half killed myself when I cycled the buttertubs pass. I set off from Hawes and headed to castle Bolton, then over Redmire moor and followed the road along to a sharp left turn. This turn took me up,up and up some more onto the top and the relief was unbelievable as I started the descent back into Hawes. 33 miles on some of the steepest roads I have seen. Pleased as can be that I achieved it, I only started riding in July last year for a bit of excercise and only one short section that I had to get off for. Needless to say I am aching allover now and ready for bed

Absolutely gorgeous road! Many's the time I've gone over there with friends in all manner of cars. Never cycled it, as yet!

You should have done it when you were sober Steve, i.e. in your car!

Few years ago I did up an old bike with the intention of using it to and from work. To my surprise hills appeared where there were never hills before! Parked the bike after an artic tried to turn me into a radiator emblem.

Thanks Will, no Ross didn't come with me, if he had I think he would have stolen my car and gone home rather than tackle the hill!!

It is a stunning route, I stopped on the top and there was four guys there with their Porsches, I took some photos for them.
