Headlight washer retro-fit.
Has anybody done it please and can provide me with instructions and parts required?
I have the jets, pipes and pump on their way but haven't a clue where to go next. I'm happy to do a photo-shoot 'How to' if anybody thinks it'd be worthwhile. Thanks |

An ECU option set! Otherwise they won't work. No matter what parts you add

Well
Looking at the parts list above, and on EPC, I now have all the hardware I think I need to check for the wiring next. If the OEM wiring is not in the car and is too difficult to replicate, I can produce an alternative setup I expect. Last edited by Raistlin; 10th October 2007 at 08:18.. |

Hi all
I've got all the bits required but haven't quite got around to fitting them on yp53 yet - I need to get the headlamp wash function enabled via the T4 connector before cutting holes in the bumper. This should be done when yp53 goes in for a service at the end of the month. The wiring for the pump is already fitted as standard so the electrics side is otherwise straightforward. Its then a case of cutting the holes in the bumper (which I think are marked on the inside of the bumper to make life easy anyway) - and in the washer reservoir itself (also marked). All that remains would be to fit the jets themselves (simple push/clip fit into the bumper) and attach the hoses (push fit to the jets and pump and clipped or otherwise tied to the bumper). All this with the bumper off, covered elsewhere. To be honest there is one other little thing stopping me from fitting the headlight washer kit. yp53 has xenon projector headlights retrofitted and I do find that the beam intensity is not affected by dirt on the headlight lenses in any way to the extect that the std headlights were, so I'm not convinced the washers would provide that much of a benefit...So if anyone is really desparate for a kit of parts for a Mk1 let me know hth simon |

If Xenon lights are Manufacturer fit, they must legally have a wash system fitted, and self levellers.
After fit appears a grey area. |

Only required for type approval certificate when new. After is crystal clear - not required - mot requirement is only for L/R lights to be identical type, free from damage and properly aligned. yp53 hasn't failed mot by having them anyway
