Default MG ZT-T 190 SE FOR SALE. 1 of only 89 ZT-T 190 SE tourer’s made. Huge spec.

MG ZT-T 190 SE FOR SALE. 1 of only 89 ZT-T 190 SE tourer’s made. Huge spec.

I have my current daily 190 SE tourer up for sale. I bought this car on 26th July 2018 to replace my Typhoon ZT as my new daily (as my typhoon went off for it’s full respray). This tourer is quite rare being a SE model, according to the build data this is no.55 of only 89 ZT-T 190 SE’s built and is most likely the highest spec’ed 190 SE tourer worldwide with all the additional mods and upgrades I’ve added to it.

- 2.5 v6 190 Tourer (Manual)
- 55 plate (last reg before tax went up to £500 on 06 plates on wards)
- Pearl Black (PBT)
- 137,937 Miles
- 13 Months MOT, next MOT due on 27/12/2020.
- New Genuine MG/Rover Cam belts, idlers, Water Pump, Thermostat done last week by a MG Rover specialist (137,578 miles on receipt)
- Last serviced by me at approx. 133k miles last year just before it’s MOT in Dec 2018. Oil change, oil filter, air filter and all 6 spark plugs.
- New clutch in 2012.

Modifications/Upgrades:
- New Heated Front Windscreen! Yes custom heated front windscreen fitted (same as a ford heated windscreen) and works fantastically. Very useful this time of the year. I had these custom made in a limited batch order and fitted one to this car.
- Full Stainless Cybox Cat back Exhaust system fitted at the end of last year. Makes a fantastic sound, not too loud.
- Custom black edition bi-xenon 6000k quad projector headlights with quad LED angel eyes/halo rings as daytime running lights, and LED indicators built into the headlights. All four xenon projectors turn on in dipped beam mode giving 100% more light output, makes a huge difference. The headlights have 4 amber LEDs in each headlight which work as the indicators, when an indicator is used, the halo rings in that headlight turn off whilst the amber LEDs flash with the indicators.
- Custom LED angel eye/halo ring fog lights also set up as daytime running lights. The fog lights themselves are also 6000k and very bright.
- Halo rings/angel eyes in headlights and fog lights turn on when the car is unlocked.
- Custom dash lighting LED colour conversion. All of the dash LED lighting has been converted to blue, and the LED lighting for the dials and dash clock has been changed to white.
- Custom black inverse dials fitted with aftermarket needles for the instrument cluster which light up with the white backlighting
- Highline IPK screen line free and converted to blue/red (blue for trip display and red for warnings)
- Digital speedometer enabled
- Blue ambient lighting fitted to the door cards, linked to the sidelight circuit, gives a nice blue glow on the door cards.
- Custom white LED sill kick trims fitted with “MG ZT-T 190 SE” on front trims and “MG ZT-T” on rear trims. The trims have a stainless steel effect finish.
- Warm white LED footwell lights fitted to the front and rear footwells, linked to the courtesy light circuit so they turn on whenever the car is unlocked or a car door is open (they’re not on when driving).
- All courtesy light bulbs and glove box bulb changed to 6000k LED.
- Puddle lights fitted under the door mirrors which light up the floor when the car is unlocked.
- Android double din head unit (originally had the factory highline system, radio and video modules and satnav drive are still in the boot and shark fin aerial for the satnav still there if you wanted to fit the original highline head unit back in)
- M-tec drilled and grooved brake discs and black diamond pads fitted all round with calipers and carriers painted red. I always fit m-tec discs and black diamond pads to all of my cars now as I find they offer fantastic braking.
- Mesh grill painted gloss black on front bumper.
- Front splitter fitted
- Tourer rear bumper guard/protector
- Tourer boot chrome luggage securing points fitted, sourced from an early 75 tourer.

Factory Spec:
This being a SE model it is very highly spec’ed with many factory options fitted.
- Full Leather interior with electric heated front seats (heated seats work very nicely, get nice and hot). All seats in excellent condition with no bolster wear. I sourced a pair of excellent condition front full leather seats for this car earlier this year to replace the original ones which were very worn and tired and had split bolsters. It’s very hard to find a set of full leather sets in exceptional condition these days
- Black Oak Dash
- Black oak steering wheel RARE (faded to green which is a common issue with the black oak steering wheels)
- 18 inch straights alloy wheels all in good condition with minimal marks
- 225/45/R18 correct size tyres all round (many fit cheaper 40 profile tyres), with loads of tread on all tyres
- Space saver spare wheel
-Detachable tow bar with electrics fitted by previous owner, the towbar is in the boot.
- Climate control aircon (aircon regassed this week and new condenser fitted)
- Cruise control (working)
- Traction Control (working)
- Rear parking sensors (working)
- Sunroof (working and not leaking)
- Rain Sensor Wipers (working)
- Auto dimming Mirror (working)
- Auto levelling headlamps (working)
- Powerfold mirrors (working)
- Heated mirrors (working)
- Heated rear screen fully working apart from bottom line (common for tourer rear screen heater elements to fail but this one has a good one I sourced for it)
- Tourer boot load cover with load guard above rear seats.
- Boot foam tool holders, tray and lid (sourced these bits for the car as quite uncommon on later models)
- split tailgate working
- New struts fitted to tail gate a few months ago. Now lifts effortlessly.
- Folding rear seats
- New number plates fitted last month (front and rear)
- Stainless slam panel bolts fitted

Mechanical work and other details:
- New upgraded repaired VIS motors fitted, supplied by Byron Ewart Rowson who supplies the uprated repair VIS Motors. Common problem for the VIS motors on the inlet manifold to fail, causing a reduction in power and poor performance.
- Rear sills around the jack pads repaired and welded on both sides by Tom Force’s welder at Force Tuning, who done a fantastic job cutting out the sills and repairing them with new metal welded in. This is becoming quite a common issue now where we’re seeing more and more of these cars rusting at the rear jack points. This has been sorted on this car.
- As mentioned above, cam belts, water pump, thermostat etc all done last week using Genuine MG Rover Parts.
- M-tec drilled and grooved discs with black diamond pads all round. Brakes are very sharp. Discs and pads fitted last year at 132.5k miles for last year’s MOT so only done 5.5k miles.
- Cruise control ECU replaced last month to get it working
- Serviced last year by me when I bought the car in July last year, serviced at approx. 133k miles, full oil change, oil filter, all 6 spark plugs and air filter.
- Aircon leak tested and regassed this week. New condenser was fitted and 2 AC pipes replaced.
- Clutch kit, Master Cylinder and Release Bearing replaced in August 2012 at 95,283 miles and then master cylinder replaced again in Feb 2014 (receipt included in history). Clutch pedal is nice and light.
- New front to rear brake pipes fitted in 2011 (receipt included in history)
- New battery fitted in July last year when I purchased the car
- Driver’s door lock actuator replaced so driver’s door now opens with the key fob
- Offside rear window regulator replaced

It’ll be a real shame to see this car go, as I had intended to keep it for the long run hence why I’d put so much time and money into upgrading it. But unfortunately the v6 is a bit too heavy on fuel for me at the moment as I do quite a few long distance runs from Essex to Milton Keynes and Bedford, so have already purchased a firefrost mkii ZT diesel which will be replacing this as my new daily. With a big wedding to pay for next year I have to cut back and make some savings wherever I can. The funds from the sale of this car is going straight towards the cost of the wedding as well. So don’t want to sell it but needs must.

The v6 is a real joy to drive, pulls well with plenty of power, and has tonnes of overtaking power. With it running mechanically sound after replacing the VIS motors it’s had me surprised, as it’s quicker than I thought the 190 would be (having only driven diesels and a 75 v6 auto prior to this one). The sound of the v6 engine paired with the stainless exhaust just makes it such a pleasure and fun to drive. I get around 25 mpg with local driving and on long runs I get around 29 mpg (and I don’t exactly hang about).

The car is mechanically sound as far as I’m aware, having just passed an MOT this week. The only advisory was the offside parking brake was slightly binding, which I’ve since adjusted. The belts being the most important thing with these v6’s already done this month is a big plus, so now won’t need doing again for 6 years/90k miles. The belts is usually a very expensive job, have seen invoices for over £1k for the belts before. Luckily I have a local MG Rover specialist (MG Rover Repair Wickford) who does them for £550 using genuine MG Rover Parts (NOT DAYCO or any other brand).

Bodywork wise the car is in good condition with no major dents or scuffs. There are just the usual minor car park door dings and stone chips, light scratches here and there which you’d expect on a car of this age/mileage.

Don’t let the mileage put you off as these v6’s are pretty solid and can go on for 200k + miles if well maintained and serviced. This one runs solid and has never let me down in the time I’ve used it.

The only points to note I can think of are (minor points):
- The headlamp washers don’t work. I’ve fitted a brand new pump which works, however when I fit the fuse for the headlamp wash the pump keeps running continuously. I believe the issue may be due to a faulty BBUS unit, as I’ve already replaced the relay for the headlamp wash and also checked all the wiring which is all fine. Not a big issue as the headlamp wash isn’t a testable item on our cars as they’re too old (only testable on cars first registered on or after 1 September 2009 per MOT test criteria) and without any wipers the jets themselves are pretty useless at removing and dirt from the headlights anyway and only uses up your screen wash much faster. If it is the BBUS unit (which is the only thing left to change) then it’s a £20 fix at most and the BBUS unit takes 5 mins to replace.
- The top 1-2cm of the android unit’s touch screen doesn’t work. The screen itself displays everything perfectly fine, but won’t detect any options you’re pressing on the top 1-2cm of the screen. Not been a major issue for me, as I’m still able to use the radio, Bluetooth etc. Not sure if Julian at Android Ice would be able to repair it possibly.
- The sunroof works but when closing from the rolled back position the anti-trap sensor sometimes sets off causing the sunroof to open again. All you have to do is hold the switch in the close position to get the sunroof to close when this happens. Again not a big issue.

Price: £3500

Easily worth the price all day being a pretty rare car. ZT Tourers don’t come up for sale so often these days (there’s been a max of 4 up for sale at one time on autotrader for the last 6 months), and I haven’t seen a 190 SE tourer come up for sale for a long time, which is no surprise with only 89 190 SE tourers every being build and who knows how many of them are still in existence.

The mods along are worth a lot:
- Custom headlights and fog lights £660 with fitting
- Custom heated windscreen £370 with fitting costs
- Dash LEDs colour conversion £150
- Custom Dials with aftermarket needles for the instrument cluster £60
- Footwell Lights £100
- LED kick trims £140
- Tourer rear bumper guard/protector £60

+ all the additional costs I’ve spent on the car:
- The replacement full leather electric heated seats cost me £200
- M-tec brake discs and black diamond pads £280
- Cybox Stainless cat back exhaust £275 as per their website
- Cam belts etc £550
- Service parts and oil £80
- Aircon condenser, replacement pipes and regas £180
- Rear sills repair £350
- VIS motors repair £80

Total £3535. And that’s just the main things I can think of, I’ve spent more on other bits and bobs for the car as well.

So from that perspective, the price only barely covers the cost of the modifications and the work I’ve had done on the car, so effectively the car itself is free!

Location: the car is located in Thurrock, Essex.
Serious buyers only please, no time wasters.
