Default The new acquistion 75 Classic SE CDT in Copperleaf Red

This evening we picked her up on the flat bed....non starter. Previous owner had replaced both fuel pumps and bought a new battery but she will not turn over. Well when viewing her first thing I checked was the plenum and it's got water in it the drain is blocked solid .

So have removed the ECU and the horrid black and wet pollen filter and have the battery on charge as it is a little down at under 11 volts.

We will have a few things to sort out like unblock the plenum drains and clear them out then refit the battery box and find or locate an under bonnet pump mounting bracket get a couple of new keys as there is only one and the blade is very lose in the case on that and check the installation of the in tank pump as we do not how well that was done and if a bracket was left of the under bonnet one???

While removing the ECU from the Plenum I noticed that she has FBH and it has pink stains over it so there is obvious a coolant leak on it or one of the hoses that service it. Will check them out in daylight.

So once the battery is fully charged we will try again and see if we still just get a click. If we do I wonder if it could be the starter needing a little TLC and the solenoid rebuilding? Once we get her running then it's clean her up swap the wheel for mine with nearly new tyres on and submit her for the MOT as it ran out 2 days ago.

The list of jobs to do and issues to sort grows in the morning light. The list so far:-

Polish the headlights ........... very dull and likely an MOT issue.
Swap bonnet for the good one that came with her .... Laquer peel.
Drain the plenum and clean them out.
Refit battery tray .. which is in the boot along with the bolts.
Replace O/S/F arch liner as it's split
Clean the engine bay
Check starter solenoid..an rebuild if needed.
Swap wheel so get good tyres
Fit tow ball
get towing electrics fitted.
Sort scuffs on N/S of front bumper

A few photos of her:-

She is pretty basic spec wise:-

Not even a passenger cup holder! Once we get her up and running some changes and upgrades will be considered. One this that is on the cards finances permitting is a power upgrade from her basic 115 bhp.

The journey begins

No evidence of it on the ECU butt he plenum was flooded:-

Drains blocked solid.

But the fuel pumps are not running both are supposed to be new. The under bonnet one is and have the receipt from ECP for that from April this year. There is eveidence, new jubilee clips on the lines, of work in the tank and both covers the retaining bolts were only finger tight... but neither pump seems to be running.

So am at a loss as to why at the moment.

As for saving this one well hopefully but sadly we do not have the finances to save TGB my 2.5 Connie. That is why we need a Diesel now.

The ECU is winging it's way to Brian for test and if needed and possible repair. Just caught the post office before the collection today.

Due the cost of a replacement should it get lost in the post have sent it Special delivery so Brian should get it tomorrow. Then it's just wait until he can examine and test it.
