Default Yet another air con issue

I have an issue with my air con, when driving normally the air con works ok, not freezing cold but nice and cool. When the engine is idling when statioary the air starts to get warmer to the point where it is pointless having it on.
Any advice on what this may be
Thanks

Paul

Mine was the same, but after fitting a replacement fan (Thanks for your help Jules) the aircon works all the time. Might be worth a check.

Definitely sounds like fan problems. When driving normally there is sufficient airflow over the condensor to operate the air con properly, but obviously not when stationary. Search for threads on checking if you have a two or three speed fan, and then contact Jules. In the mean time, probably best not to operate air con as you could damage the compressor.

That is what my car started doing when I had a coolant leak. Also worth a check

The working when moving/ not working when stationary is a clear sign of a failed slow speeed fan. The gas may well be due for renewal, but the overriding issue is the fan.
If it's a pre-2004ish model, it's probably got the 3-speed system which usually means a new fan. Later models have a robust 2-speed system but fail in the slow speed resistor.
Either way, eBay or member Jules will provide answers.

Thanks for the response to my problems. I have just purchased the car so i dont know when the air con was last serviced. I will check the how to section to check the fan and then decide where to go from there. Looks like Jules will have another customer
