Irwin bolt removers work a treat on these stubborn bolts mate.

David, you don't need to remove the ARB, so take a look HERE for the easy way to do the job

Have fun

Thanks for that advice Brian. Will give that a go. When you say loosen the opposite side, by how much? Half a dozen turns? Been on the drive since last September so decided to give it its first wash and polish today.Looks ok but it is only silver. Had one or two ‘that looks nice’ comments while I polished it, from people who should have been isolating themselves. Must admit for a 17 year old car, there is no rust on any panels tho.Jacking points held with no creaks or groans overnight on blocks of wood. Will let you know Brian when I have got the job done. Thanks again.

Four turns on each bolt at most will be fine David, I did this only last week when replacing an upper arm for a local member

Default Biwb

Once again another BIWB mod, not for the purist but effective, and stops those door cards from popping loose after they been open & closed a few times.

Hand drill with a 3mm bit, drill an hole in the top right hand corner of the door card, on the front & rear OS
1

Then use a black self tapping screw to hold the door card in place no more popping of the door card.
2

Do each door card OS/NS
3

I did them all yesterday but forgot to take the photos so pics 1/2/3 were redone as a mock up today

yesterdays photos.OS
4

5

NS
6

7

I think they look ok and not out of place but of cause that is my opinion only.

Default Injector Copper Seal Remover

This is an idea from FL forum, so six days ago i put together an home made injector copper seal remover, sometimes when the injector is removed it leaves behind the copper seal in the chamber which are hard to remove, even more so if they are stuck due to a little corrosion, or being squashed.

Made with 8mm all thread and an old handle of a pair of old pliers.

1

2

3

So yesterday when i found the other spare handle i had, i decided to make another one

Measure the all thread next to an injector
4

Cut the threaded bar to its length which is a foot or 30cm
5

6

Then measure 4" or 10cm this is where the bend will be to form the handle.
7

Place in a vice where you have made your 4" /10cm mark & heat that area, once hot enough slowly bend.
8

taking your time bend the bar round to a right angle of exactly 90°, corresponding to a quarter turn.
9

10

Then fit the handle if you have one, if not use some tape to form an handle.
11

12

Job done i now have to extracting injector seal tools

Another biwb mod/ tool was to cut the nut off a diesel injector fuel line, it fit perfect in the large cap which as to be removed if you are going to change the HPFP.

one fuel line
1

2

cut through the pipe
3

remove the nut
4

It fits perfect into the end cap
5

6

7

You get two off one fuel line

Thanks for that idea Steve. Both the front doors need a screw in them to keep them fixed in the silver one. Plenty of time for this mod to be done. Just waiting for this freezing cold wind to die down so I can get on with everything.
