You've missed a bit, that big green bit in the shed, my tourer, I'll drop it off soon.

I remember you mentioning this issue at the NEC last year, hope you get to the bottom of it. Russel Walsh is highly recommended from what I've heard about him over the years

Thanks Rick. Russel seems to know his stuff, the bits were coming off thick & fast. Just hope they go back on the same way LOL.

He's coming back tomorrow to finish stage one, then I've got to be patient for a week or 3. The current thought is bearing damage caused by the delaminating gasket, but it's by no means certain.

Just glad I haven't yet fitted the bonnet mirrors - it would look twice as worse .

I am new to the club and am blown away by the condition of your car. What a beautiful car, how on earth have you managed to get and keep it looking better than new. Well done. I would also like a link to the people who did the cills and the man doing the engine. Thank you. Geoff.

Well, it was! Looking a bit sorry at the moment though . This is how she usually looks (and will do again):

Russel (the chap sorting the engine) can be contacted here: http://mgroversolutions.com/ He has a great reputation throughout the MG Rover community and comes highly recommended. I should add though, that there are quite a few other talented and trustworthy folk out there, including Trikey who posted above and Lates . There's a thread somewhere that lists many of the "known" experts.

Cliff

Edit: Meant to add: welcome to the club

More work today. She now looks like this:

For a clean engine bay, it's surprisingly filthy . Guess what I'll be doing over the next couple of weeks . We also have a culprit for the noise: piston no. 1 looked very sorry for itself. The other 2 on the front bank also had some marks, but very very minor in comparison.

She'll live again, and soon be back to her best .

My College engine has been stripped, I found one cylinder with some light surface rust. I'm replacing the six liners with new ones to match, it might be a good idea for you to do the same, with new rings in new cylinders it'll be like a new engine again. I was looking at a company called Westwood liners for mine.

Thanks. I'll have a chat with Russell (the chap who's doing the work for me). He knows these engines like the back of his hand and also understands my wish for a thorough job

Wish I had the skills and knowledge to do this sort of work myself - should really have given it some serious thought back in my younger days, but that's hindsight for you!

BTW, looking forward to seeing more pics of your cars, particularly the Cortina Crusader. I had a late model Mark IV (Mark V as we used to call them) back in the 80s and loved it to bits. I sadly managed to write it off big time in an accident .
