I really, and have forever, wanted a situpon one. The garden is sadly inadequate for such a thing and it would look slightly over the top. So the alternative is to sell and move to a place with a much bigger garden. In these parts that means upwards of £750,000 plus costs. That seems excessive for a situpon. So it's a Flymo hovercraft. They should make them much bigger so you can stand on them and LEAN.

Sadly not. Hasn't been cleaned since the day I bought it - how and why it keeps going is a mystery .

Im on my second petrol mower in 22 years. The first one was fine but the deck was rusting away. I actually made and welded repair panels onto it. It finally died when the engine seized. Bought a new one about 10 years ago, its body is sadly also succuming to rust but the engine is going strong. Think I'll get one with an alloy body next time! If our new bungalow is ever finished with the lockdown I'll definitely need a ride on to tackle the size of garden we are going to have.
My neighbour asked me to have a look at his mower which he couldnt get started during the week. Changed the old stale petrol for fresh, air filter was totally saturated with engine oil and clogged so cleaned that. Replacement spark plug and away it went. Two nice bottles of red wine was my unnecessary reward |

As there is no football or horse racing to have a bet on,so got some extra cash in my pocket. So bought myself a grass strimmer, working on the banking outside our back gate, trying to do a better job than the council contractors who must have be using a plough.

My neglected Mountfield mower was purchased in 1991 and is still working. Plastic body so no rust there and metal frame and handle rusting now. This week neighbour and I both get our mowers out for the first time. His is also a Mountfield but newer.
Last year it was a pig to start mine and when it did the screeching from the blade bearing was dreadful. Gave it a good dose of plus gas and then an oiling and it went. Thought it was its last year and a new one was needed but it kept going. Neighbour starts trying to get his going, flooded it but would not give up. Eventually it sparked and coughed out black smoke and went. My turn, expecting it not to go fired up immediately and purred like a kitten. Not touched it since it went into the garage last autumn and the garage flooded to boot. I was amazed. |

Is that the one over the water Jon? I got what at the time I thought was small and manageable. Been mine now for 55 years. She's now smaller, a trifle less manageable, but delights me every day, rain or shine, with a cup of tea in bed.
