Default Have I fried my IPK ?

OK, so with some time on my hands decided to service my cdti. It was supposedly serviced just before I got her 4 months ago (pollen filter definitely not done then) , but I've done 10k in her. So after doing all the filters etc I plugged in laptop with TOAF and scanned for codes - there was one for the IPK saying IKP-EEPROM error coding incorrect/incomplete. However the cluster was working OK.

Read the coding and noticed that neither the enable or disable was checked for TRIP1

so thought I would set to enable - probably should have left alone, but my OCD to have things correct got the better of me

This disabled the reset button for the trip computer.

Tried setting other bits like Trip computer to enable and disable to see if could get trip computer to work - no change

So thought would just leave battery disconnected over night to see - end result the trip and odometer screen is now completely blank.

so can this possibly be rescued via a proper T4 session, or is new instrument cluster or anything I can do with TOAF?

PS mine is a 2001 Connie cdti with standard instrument cluster YAC112411

The coding incomplete error is probably the result of having the digital speedometer enabled, if indeed you have it.

Bit late suggesting it now but guess you didn't back-up the modules before making changes? If not then you need to check the files in your Toaf folder, as I believe there is an automatic back-up function.

Regards

Unfortunately I didn’t back up first - kicked myself as soon as realised

I did try with digital speedo both enabled and disabled.

There should be a section within the Toaf folder named back-ups, see if yours is empty. Still convinced I've read about an automatic back-up somewhere but don't know where Toaf hides it, someone else more familiar with Windows might advise.

I should imagine one of the learned ones should be able to restore your IPK, from what I've heard some details eg the mileage are on a protected chip that you can't have accessed/altered.

Finally issue a plea to others who have the same type of car/IPK (I don't) to copy & save theirs using Toaf and mail you the saved file - you can then attempt to restore from that file.

Regards

Right Alan, I've attached a zipped folder containing your TOAF "backup" file to resurrect your IPK, it is Easter after all

Simply unzip the file, and use TOAF to restore the backup

Have fun

A HUGE THANK YOU to Brian for his time, effort and help in getting me sorted with a working instrument cluster again.

I will now sit and write out "back up first and don't mess" a 100 times

I run Toaf on an old Dell running XP and the backup folder is on the Desktop.

Mine stores my backups in a folder within documents - I believe you can set this when doing first backup (or possibly when installed - can’t remember).

There is also a default backup folder in C:Programmes/Toaf/backup - mine was empty, so I don’t believe TOAF automatically backs up anything.

Needles to say I now have a backup of all modules stored!
