What exactly was in his posts that could have been constituted as selling? Especially considering that the link to the item was made by another member?

He did say that he had lots of these, but you can find that out from the eBay link posted by Dorset Bob. I don't recall him saying 'please buy these' or anything to that effect, instead he gave an interesting insight into how a supplier was affected when MG Rover closed.

Perhaps a word-for-word explantion of what he said that apparently broke the rules would help here?

Have to agree, what a shame to loose some first hand knowledge of a subject that's of interest to most enthusiasts, for a few shillings
