Default Engine disabled warning light URGENT

Last night my friend changed my key fob as switch was missing from old one, we locked and unlocked it but when I went to start it this morning an engine disabled warning comes on, am really stuck, can anyone suggest what to do. Thanks Jennifer

You need to open the key casing back up and see if the immobiliser transponder has fell out. If so you need to have a look where you were working to try and find it. If it was a complete new unit that was programmed then swap the transponders around.

Ok thanks will do, lucky it still works with other key, but really strange as just changed the innards over to the new case

Some of the transponders are loose in the casing and can fall out without realising.

As above, there are two 'parts' to the key, the circuit board (operated by the buttons) and battery, and the immobiliser chip in a small oblong recess in the case, which can fall out when the key is opened. As in the earlier post, you need to find the chip if it is missing.

Default Transponder

Thanks so much to you all for your quick responses.
I have opened the old case and luckily the transponder is still in it. I think I will wait until next week for breakfast meet and take it over and see if Teflon or Peter can help me change it over properly.
