Default oh No!!!!

MOT on Monday and I thought I would adjust the headlamp beam o/s. To get the beam aligned correctly I used the garage door. To my horror the beam fell low on the garage door accompanied by an audible crunch sound from the headlamp itself. The vertical adjuster no longer lifts the beam. Any ideas?:duh :

Do you mean the adjuster wheel on the dashboard, or the hex/allen adjuster on the headlamp itself? Does the adjuster motor hum, but not alter the beam? If so, the motor gears may need investigation, or the unit replacing.

It's the hex allen adjuster on the headlamp. The design of our headlamps are pants. This is the 3rd set of headlamps I've had in the life of the car. The adjusters are plastic and become brittel and break. Then the gearing inside usually breaks! Still they are cheaper than the Porche to buy which are over £1000 per unit! Not that I have a Porche, just looking at replacements and they happened to display with a selection of other cars that were very expensive too! Suppose we get what we pay for!
