Starter Motor Solenoid Kits still available
Hi.
Just wondering of the solenoid kits for starter motors are still available. I cannot find any details on Ebay. I have a 2004 75 Auto and I think my starter motor is on the way out. At this stage just one click and it goes on the second try but assume it may get worse. Off to the auto electrician soon but would like to know if the solenoid kits are still available. Starter Motor Solenoid on the way out!!!
Thanks for the details re sourcing the solenoid kits. I usually allow at least a 14 day delivery time from UK to Australia. This has been the first week of what I call the "one click" start. Can I assume this may gradually get worse over time? Is it one of those things that may go for ages before finally not being able to start at all? My thoughts being to order solenoid kit now and hang in there until it arrives. Other option is take to Auto Elec who I assume will say, Yep needs a new starter motor which I am pretty sure are not an off the shelf item here in Australia. Is it possible that Auto Elecs can repair the existing solenoid that is on the way out? Also cannot see logic in attempting to remove the starter motor unless you have a repair kit on hand. Appreciate any comments from members previous experience. To clarify my car is a petrol, auto KV6 2004 Rover 75.

14 days, what by rowing boat or what. ok if not important, I shipped a set of Serpent alloys to Australia by air, 3 days later he sent me a pic of them on his motor. I know the chap who does the kits, he lives near me. I have several sets.
Your starter will eventually fail to turn over. PM me if you want a kit in a few days. As for your auto electrician, if he has a new or recon alternator, he should have the kits. if he says it needs a new alternator, he wants to rip you off, or does not know how to spend 5 mins replacing the solenoid contacts,.

These kits are excellent. The original starter motors on our cars are very strong and reliable, the only weak part being the solenoid contacts. I was suffering intermittent starting on my KV6 auto; I fitted one of these kits over a year ago and it has started first time every time ever since.

Hi Crispin. I fitted one on my MGZT back in 2011 and until I decided to change my car last November the starter was still working great, it is one of the first jobs I do if I purchase a R40 or MGZT so my current Tourer as one in as well, I purchased quite a few sets from Carl. I did have a nice thread going on the subject by PB have ruined it https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=227316

Ok Jeff.
Your KV6 AUTO kit is booked to be picked up in the morning. Express Air, expected delivery date Friday 1st Arctic has probably posted this. My only tip is to use a impact hex socket, especially on the easy to see waaay out in the open top bolt. Use a dodec socket and FUBAR the head and you will rue the day, big time.
