How much miles/km's different motor types?

Hello, I am Emiel from the Netherlands, living in the provence of Drenthe. I want to buy my first 75. In my search for a quality car I wonder how much miles/ kilometers the different motor types can run with normal subscribted maintanance. I have a 2.5 V6 I would like to look for at a dealer here, it has been running 215k km. But I really would like to know howmuch km's these cars and motors can run? Can somebody give a clue? Alternative would be the 2.0 cdt but these are highly road taxed here in Holland. I hope you can give me some examples here. Thanks in advance. Emiel.

Hi Emiel and welcome to the fold. The diesels are known to be capable of more then 200,000 miles / 320,000 km.

How does the cost of running a 2.5 v6 compare to running a CDT when you consider tax and miles per gallon?

We have the "Moon Club" for cars that have done over 225,623 miles (363 105 Km)

Out of the 17 cars on the list only one is a V6 but this shows it can be done.

Your potential car would be considered pretty high mileage. If it's been really well maintained, regular oil changes with quality oil etc. and has had all the belts changed at the correct time it may well be perfectly OK for many more Km.

Agree with macafee2, it'll be worth doing the sums of overall costs taking into account the difference in cost of your annual Km for petrol or diesel and adding the road tax.

One of my kv6 cars has done 230,000km, regular oil changes, belts etc and is still running fine.
Had it since 37,000km so as said if looked after they will be fine.
Not sure how many km it will eventually do ??

Hello and thank you all for your awnsers. As Macafee2 and Andy suggested, I calculated the following: Road tax Diesel vs 2,5 V6 = 1700 euro vs 900 euro a year. Consumption avarage diesel 1:18 km vs consumption petrol 2,5 V6 1:9. Annual km's 14.000. Diesel costs 1,35 euro/liter vs petrol 1,65 euro/liter. Those numbers come to the following conclusion: Diesel avarage 0,19 euro/km. Petrol 0,25 euro/km. The online calculator shows break even is at 7090 km a year.

So I do think a diesel motor would be a saver buy, according the strenght of the moto and the live-span of it.

This means I need to have more patience with finding a proper one in the right colour I want. (Moonstone green, british racing green, red, automatic gears and full options, beige interior.... hard to find these days when only 46 cars on europe's autoscout...

That is why the one I am talking about, 2,5 V6, 215K km, dealer, Moonstone green, full options, beige interior is so attractive for me...

. but maybe I should be waiting for the diesel version than...

And, I want to buy the car and keep it as long as possible . Reliability is a thing to have prior ofcourse. Anymore suggestions? Greetings from Holland.

I believe that any engine, providing it's been regularly maintained can reach vast mileages without much problem. There is a chap on here who owns a 1.8 that's done close to 200,000 miles (321000 KM) in his. Me? If I was presented with a V6 with 215k KM ( Which is about 135,000 miles) I wouldn't be too worried about it, again providing it'd been looked after

Hi Azur, Why not look at the British market? your only across the water, wouldn't be hard to bring one back! if you find one I'm sure a member on here or on the main facebook groups if close by them with give the car a once over for you!

Hi, tnx again. I do agree that regular and proper maintenance is the key here, but sometimes hard to check. Very nice suggestion to have a look on the British market, this could be a solution, specially with your suggestion to ask a member of the forum for help. Nice. I do prefer a steer on the left side, so this is where I first want to have a look at, I am already also looking in Germany and Belgium. And I will have a look at the car I earlier mentioned. Tnx.

Hi Azur. Like others have said, it's all about the servicing and care the car has had. My ZT V6 has reached 108,000 miles (nearly 173,000km) and still performs very well and I use it every day. If you can live with the extra fuel cost over the diesel, it is also a lovely smooth engine which will put a smile on your face every time you drive it.
