Default Sunroof options?

Dear 75/ZT colleagues...

Any thoughts on getting a good sunroof? I have a 75 Connie SE Tourer CDTi, pre-facelift. It is in good condition and mechanically fine. Inside needs some TLC as it is used as a family car. Serviced regularly and correctly. Had lots of new expensive parts for the transmission - if something needs doing it gets done. Might not be the best but one of the best. I plan to keep it for a few years yet. BUT - compared to our other car it is gloomy inside even if it is sandstone rather than black. Any ideas on the best type of sunroof and where to get one installed?

Cheers -

Lloyd

Default Sunroof options

When I was first looking for a 75/ZT some two years ago I wanted one with a sunroof but found they were relatively uncommon. I therefore asked a couple of specialists for a quote to fit an electric tilt/slide glass roof into a car that didn't have one and got quotes around the £1,600 mark. Obviously a manual one/simple tilt only would be much cheaper, but I thought it wasn't worth it given the value of the cars I was looking at. I eventually found what I wanted with factory sunroof already fitted - I don't think I would have been happy with anything less, but it's all down to personal preference.

a member I think took the roof with a sunroof in from another car and fitted the roof to their own car

Don't put one in , it's just something else to leak

Yeah, Corin did it several years ago, a lot of work If you ever see a 75/ZT with frost on the roof, you'll see the outline of the sunroof between the support bars, just need a big tin opener

Some modern cars have fixed glass and an internal shade blind that powers out to let light in.

If bonded in, no leaks.

With a full length glass roof this would be "cool". Although not if the sun's out.

Not sure it could be done, due to strengthening in the roof? Maybe a manual blind to cut down on cost??

It was an option when I ordered mine, I said no way at any cost. I cannot stand the flickering light as you pass under trees,(even with the blind in place) I find the added light a distraction.

Any ideas where I could get one of these? :-)

My 2004 diesel has an after market Webasto sunroof fitted by a previous owner.
It was leaking but couldn’t see where. It turned out the glass was separating from the frame.
I was lucky as Webasto had a glass bonding issue on this model and did a recall of the product years ago so called the company.
They replaced the glass panel free.
Only thing I’ll say is as aftermarket ones are slightly different size wise , you will need custom headlining made.
If I had access to the amount of 75s you guys have,I’d go to a breakers and pull out a factory sunroof and headlining board, go to a sunroof fitter and get a sunroof installer to fit it to the factory specs.

Might be worth talking to someone like this - https://www.nationalwindscreens.co.u...placement.aspx. May point you in the direction of after market installers.

Or have a chat with these people - http://www.carglassandtrim.co.uk/win...and-glass.html.
