You've missed the most important bit. My Cowley Mk1 has an automatic "Smug" setting which is activated as soon as my bum touches the leather and fills me with a sense of calm satisfaction at the knowledge that my vehicle hasn't been ravaged by Project Drive. The gentle massage action of the little embossed Viking logos on the headrest give me a permanent smile.

Hi:

I have in mind to change my leather the cover seats MK1 for a a new set of leather cover seats MK2.

Beside the 4 pleats on MK1 to 5 pleats MK2 desing and de plastic backboard on my MK1 seats. There´s any other issue that I have to take into account (on this thread you mention about the size on the seats)?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards
Joel Antonio.

To my knowledge, only the seat faces are actually leather. The rest of the seat, including the map pockets, are fake leather, although it's a pretty good imitation. Very early models may or may not have been full leather. At some point I think the rear armrest changed from leather to fake leather. Originally, the front headrests had a little rover logo in them but that was later deleted.

Re seat rear/map pockets, they are weak. My passenger side one was loose, took it off, about 5 of the clips just fell away.

So i JD welded them back on, put the whole thing back onto the seat and they just fell away again. Turns out they have to be able to flex to be secured back into position. Looks like the whole rear is going to have to be screwed on.

Give me a mk2 map pocket every time, the mk1s are a bad design.

Default Mk1 an Mk 2 Seats

As has been mentioned, the Mk2 rear seat cushion is shallower than the Mk 1 (supposedly to improve rear leg room I've previously read elsewhere, but no idea if this is true). If you look at the Rimmers page for the rear seat, two different under-pans are specified, the Mk2 one being smaller. What I'm still not sure about is whether you can straight swap in a (smaller) Mk 2 cushion to a Mk1 car. Is the under-pan part of the cushion or part of the car?

Contrary to some earlier posts my Cowley seats are double piped leather with leather map pockets and the one piece rear upright with no side bolsters. Has no release buttons but just the tapes and of course the embossed headrests
