Angry MOT fail and advisories

Was confident that I would have a pass on my 16 year old, but not to be.
Repair immediately Major defects: Fuel pipe insecure (from fuel tank).
Hydraulic brake caliper leaking Nearside front (flexi pipe loose in caliper).
Repair as soon as possible (minor defects Electrical wiring insecure Nearside rear (ABS and pad wear sensor wiring)!
Monitor and repair if necessary:
Sub frame corroded, but structural rigidity is not significantly reduced!
Suspension component mounting is corroded but not considered excessive nearside rear.
Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive offside rear.
Side repeater slightly discoloured nearside .

I wouldn't mind but I took the car in with no warning lights on. It came out of garage with bulb warning light on. Checked all lights and there's non out!. Also air bag warning light on, They must have been pushing the seats back and forth excessively and disturbed the wiring. I fixed this!

I'm pretty disappointed as I keep on top of the car. I think it's an over zealous MOT tester!

DOn't like the corrosion advisories!

A lot of cars seem to get these corrosion advisories these days, some testers seem to put it more than others. If it is just surface corrosion as it often is get in there with a wire brush in an electric drill and once removed spray it with Bilt Hammer UB and it wont be back.

I was furious when my previous V6 left me with no misfire and no EML on, and came back with a fail for both! It amazes me how this happened over night! I too got a corrosion warning, but it was just surface rust which I quickly dealt with.

I am a bit dubious about some MOT testers now.

Had my 19 year old V6 tested today. Failed on a front lower suspension arm bush and headlight pattern. I expected the headlight issue as the lenses are very murky. Didn't think this is too bad for a 19 year old daily driver.
I did get a note to say unable to check brake pipes fully as they are greased up.

Cool

Sounds alot but it isnt...Waxyol the whole underneath of your car (treat rust before)....that will look after itself once done and do it once a year or so....

cant see why mot tester would move seats back and forth

how are these down to an overzealous tester?
Repair immediately Major defects: Fuel pipe insecure (from fuel tank).
Hydraulic brake caliper leaking Nearside front (flexi pipe loose in caliper).

The advisories you should thank him for, as he has given you a heads up to prevent them becoming a major problem

Seats need to be secured to the floor pan and locked into position, the only way to see if all the bolts are present and tight is to move the seat forwards and backwards, its the same test with the locks on the runners.

That would explain the OP's previous post about brake fluid loss but i thought he got Andy W to fix that?

Had MOT on the diesel this week failed on front drop links and lower front arm (replaced only 2 years go - cheap parts!).

Advisories for corrosion but amazingly the emissions were fine, running injector cleaner every 6 months and oil changes seems to have kept on top of it.

The leak I had on previous posts was down to the leaking fuel pump. There were no leaks of hydraulic fluid. I checked and Andy checked! I'm about to go check again to see what its all about!
