Well,that was a waste of time !
Washed and waxed the Tourer late yesterday afternoon but got up today to find it dirtier than before I washed it ! So that was a waste of time !
Appears there might have been that dust we sometimes get blown over from the Sahara desert in last nights rain as everything is covered in it. Other car on drive is covered in it as is mates car down the road. Has anyone else woke this morning to find their car the same ? Guess i'll be washing the Tourer again later when the sun has gone off it |

It may look dirty, but at least the paintwork will be somewhat protected by the wax. Don't be too downhearted!

Yes - I get fed up with the annual visit of Sahara sand/dust. Had to wash our two cars this morning and found the dust quite difficult to shift easily. It seems to be "sticky" and needs substantial mopping under a stream of running water to make it go. If you just give a quick shampoo and rinse you find most of it still there in huge streaks.

Use snow foam in a garden sprayer to "loosen" it off, then rinse thoroughly, ideally with a pressure washer (Karcher/Nilfix etc.) then shampoo. This is one of the best: https://www.bilthamber.com/car-cleaning-and-degreasing/auto-foam available from many outlets such as: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/ or https://www.shopnshine.co.uk/ or https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk The simplest (and probably cheapest ) method is to use a garden sprayer (Hoselock etc.) with a mix of 40ml per litre of warm to hot water. You'll need about 3 to 4 litres and just spray it all over the car. Once the car is soaked, leave for a few minutes and then rinse off while still wet. Hope that helps. Good luck. Andy. |
