M O.T Questions (not MG/Rover related)
I will be taking the wife's Lexus for an MOT on Saturday and that got me thinking.
How do they test emissions on a Hybrid? The engine doesn't run unless you are moving and the accelerator pedal doesn't rev the engine even if it was on. I have no specific use for the answer to this question, I'm just being curious and geeky lol Last edited by neilb740; 29th August 2018 at 19:13.. |

Took my old Prius to Toyota to get MOT'd. Believe there is a special method of pressing accelerator and button presses to keep the engine on so they test the emissions.
I'm sure Toyota dealers will also have their diagnostics to easily do the same. |

8.2.1.2 Gaseous emissions You must inspect vehicles with spark ignition engines first used on or after 1 August 1975. You don't need to check: L category vehicles hybrid vehicles – with electric and combustion engines hydrogen fuel cell vehicles two stroke engines – unless they are subject to a catalyst test |
