It might also be worth keeping your eyes open in your local area, for caravans parked in drives which look unused/ unloved and making an offer to buy.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I would love another one but I'm not sure our son would actually sleep in it

I've asked a friend to ask their friend if they want to sell their caravan, no idea on how much or condition

There are loads for sale on eBay from 100 to 900 quid, most look good, but I didn’t read any of the write ups on the ads. You can strike lucky, but you may have to travel a long distance to find one.

..and there nearer it gets to winter, the lower the prices become.

Look at all advertising options - I would suggest that those that want to offload a caravan with problems will use the likes of Gumtree and EBay.

Our first move from tent to caravan was due to me looking at local adds in our local free newspaper - it was a Sterckman folding caravan.

Owned for years from new by an old couple who finally realised they could not at their age cope with it anymore. Not computer users - so used the “traditional” advertising - so for this type of bargain - scan the “local rags”.

They wanted just £500 and it was probably the best bargain we ever bought.

These folding caravans keep their value, are easy to tow and put up.

They also seem to be constructed to a superior standard to caravans in general.

Couple on Gumtree - one £800 but would require a bit of work. Broken window but he says it comes with a spare window (so why not swap it over before selling?? )

Several nice ones c. £2000

Asking price is always more than what they will accept. Always make an offer
