Visit to UK - where to go?
Hi All,
Perhaps a strange request for those folk living there, but I'm planning a trip from Australia to the UK in April 2011 and want to get some MG visiting included while I'm there. Will only have a week or so outside London before heading to Italy and eventually Paris. Can you give me some suggestions as to what to see - i.e. Can you tour Longbridge? (see where the toy was built), Visit the MGCC? Is Gaydon worth a visit? Is there an actual MG museum? I apologise for my ignorance - but we're a long way away. Will of course keep an eye out for any events that I can drop in on - waving the flag from down under!! lol Really would appreciate your honest opinion as I don't want to drag the other half around un necessarily. Thanks all in anticipation - and in MG and Rover-ness!!lol

As said above, Gaydon is well worth a visit!
Are you an expat visiting home or is this 'just' a holiday? Do you have kids, and what ages? That may help people suggest things to do/see that are child friendly. Make sure you bring some waterproof clothing & woolley jumpers too!

No tours around Longbridge, much if not most of it is now raised to the ground.
But if you time it right the pride of Longbridge rally will be on in April and you could see lots of the longbridge made cars in attendance, so that would be worth your while. As an aside my aunt is currently here in the uk and she lives in Scoresby Melbourne

An ex Pat Kiwi, now Australian coming on holiday. We've been a couple of times in tha last few years - my partner and I - but I'm the only car nut. Cars I've had include a Morris 1100, 1963, 1969 and 1970 Minis and a Marina! English cars were always big in NZ. No kids and realistically - will probably be just me doing any MGRover pilgramage. lol

So devastaing to think so much of the heritage has been distroyed, Had hoped some sanity had come after other posts I had read previously. I'd LOVE to come to the Pride of Longbridge - does anyone have a planned date for next year? Say Hi to your Aunt from Scoresby - I'm from Montrose up behind her on Mount Dandenong. Tell her it's been COLD and hooray we've been getting lots of rain! (We've been in drought here for 10 years). Any more infor or thoughts gratefully received all!

Well that date works out incredibly well for me as we'll be in England from the 7th to the 18th of April. I'll have to drive up for the day from Arundel where we'll be staying at that time, but it's not that far.
Gaydon Heritage Museum isn't too far from Longbridge is it? So maybe I can knock off two birds with one stone! All ideas gratefully received!
