Default I'd like to have one done

Hi,
Be interested to see how much overall performance improves with mpg.
I'm looking to have a T4 session done on mine but I'm down in Essex.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks Ken, unfortunately it did take longer than expected, that communication error with the SRS caused no end of problems, but we got there in the end.

I trust all is well with the cruise control and you now have full functionality, and you're enjoying all the extra power and torque.

Default T4 Session - Thanks....

Apologies for my tardiness in saying thanks also for the excellent T4 session I had this week at Russ'. All fault warnings cleared, few dealer options changed and best of all.... my new IPK/Message Centre works just great, averaging 32mpg - good for a V6!

Do you remember what it was?

In my case supply & earth are ok, airbag module (the later type) communicates fine in another car after interchange, but in wifes car no communication to the SRS DCU (3 modules tested).

Until now (if gets dark & cold outside) I think the Pink/White wire from OBD7 to the module causes trouble. The connection from OBD-7 over C0287-16 to C0287-19 to the SRS DCU is fine, but:

~2,4Meg to GND (other car without trouble: ~180k)
~4V to GND with ignition on (other car ~11,1V)

I checked C0287 and found out, that there is a 3rd pink-white wire (C0287-17)

EDIT: Although the schematic says C0287-17 goes to the auto gearbox ecu, I have a 1.8T manual.
Otherwise: C0287-18 is not wired, although it should lead to the engine ecu. Nevermind, the KW-wires are all shorted in C0287-15..C0287-20. Will try another ecu and investigate further 2morrow.

BTT: what else does the SRS DCU need for communication?

I unplugged the original one and put another working one near the ECU and connected GND, 12V & the communication line directly there to the SRS DCU (splitted cables), but still no communication the the module. The communication to the engine ECU uses the same cables and works perfect.

In this particular case, the cars original EWS and ECM had been replaced from that of a later car.

As a result, T4 was looking for an Autoliv SRS DCU, and not the Temic version that was fitted.

That is one good reason for not fitting replacement ECU "sets", as this is just one of the issues that can be experienced

Phil did a great job with mine, and he's only 90 minutes away from Harlow. What are you waiting for?
