Worth remembering MGR Petrol ECU's are sealed and waterproof - it is the Diesel ECU which is unsealed and is prone to water ingress and subsequent ECU related issues.

The water going through the plenum isn't a problem in itself. It's the leaves, moss, acorns, dead mice etc that stop it getting out that give you aggro. My 2.5 has one of Jules excellent detritus blockers on the driver's side and something not entirely dissimilar fashioned from some gutter mesh on the near side. Sweep the rubbish off of them when you open the bonnet for the weekly checks and job's a good 'un. Not a drop of unwanted water in the plenum for the last two years despite the poor old thing having to live outside.

I feel your pain!
This is England, rain is what the country is known for! ( OK, there are a few other things ) Every time it gets damp or rains I seem to have yet another electrical gremlin! mmmm….. Gremlins, you shouldn't get them wet, should you?
