Question Undertray pad fixings

There's a spongy pad thing on the undertray - it's held on by four of these little blighters.

This is the other side of it.

The head of the fixing takes a 3-blade security bit (which I've got) but I can't get the thing to unscrew.

Does anyone know the trick to undoing these fixings - or is it a case of once they're on you can't take 'em off again (like a rivet).

I want to take the pad off to blast the undertray with a Karcher.

Tap them out with a punch once removed replace them with scrivets

The 2nd pic doesn't show it but those three fat things are actually strips of metal bent back on themselves. I've never seen this type of fixing before - they're extremely weird.

I'm not sure replacing them with scrivets will work. If I tighten them up I think they'll just pull straight through (unless I use washers on the back). On the other hand, if I tighten them but stop before they start to crush, the body of the scrivet itself will be sticking up and will probably clatter up & down on whatever lump of metal is directly above.

I suspect the spongy pad thing is a piece of sound proofing to stop the undertray slapping against the metal above it (sump perhaps?) and making an annoying racket.

They are in the words of the Geo. Tucker Eyelet Company Ltd "Pop" rivets

Just clean around the sound deadening, removal is simply not necessary
