Hi Then why don't you meet us at the National in May.

Will not be attending now. I’m now thinking it should be later in the year. How can you commemorate or celebrate if the weather keeps on spoiling it? A summer event would allow everyone to do a proper job of marking the closure and celebrating the history. The weather would no longer be a concern and allow everyone to focus on the cars and the social benefits of a mass gathering. Sad to read attendees are already on their way from other parts of Europe with no event to enjoy.
As for MG, go on open the gates and let us use the hard standing.

The problem is with that is

1, you need MG security staff to ensure people behave in an appropriate manner, public liability

2 that the inquisitive amongst the MGR fraternity don't wander off "exploring" and come back with things....and start wandering round the old parts of the factory which aren't safe.

Also Long bridge now is pretty much abandoned and is mostly a building site, MG UK have relocated there main offices to London so I doubt anyone will even be in.

We are still going!

I was thinking about in the future but as you say there is probably not much left to stand on. I can’t see the site being there 10 years from now. No doubt it will be houses with Riley Drive and Rover Close etc.

Default POL update

Pol 4

If you are a local group still coming the parking is auth from 10am. Marshall’s will meet you .

The area will be small that is being used so please re think your journey you may not be able to park due to limited space. The Park is confirmed out of total use this morning : hence why it was risked assessed last night and pulled. It is sad, I have received great messages stating that people are organising meets in the areas they live which is great. POL is not responsible for any meets due to our venue being unusable .

I expect your right, and i think more like 5 years..... the land is owned by St Modwen and has been for many years evenbefore MGR went pop, 3/4 of what was once there is now gone....a shame but its stood for longer than I imagined. When Rover went bust in 2005 (I was working for a dealer) I expected within 6 months the lot to be gone....so 13 years on that some of it is still standing is a small bonus.

Ryton as we know was flattened entirely very quickly.

I’ve just arrived to my hotel. Looking forward to it and looking forward to seeing some old and new faces. There’s more to it then just the cars. Just go and enjoy it.
