Default V6 Breakdown

Driving to work in the S plate this morning

Car was very hesitant when any kind of acceleration was required, if driven gently it was ok.

Pulled in for fuel and it wouldn't restart, just cranked over.

Called RAC man, two hours later they turned up and it started fine.

Sensor me thinks?

Rapidly loosing the will with this one.

Could be a blocked fuel filter, does it have one?

Fuel filter separation was my first thought

But would that car to refuse to fire, then fix it self two hours later?

The car drove ok on light throttle but then wouldn't go again, it wasn't misfiring it just wouldn't fire at all like there's no spark...which makes me think its more electrical than fuel?

Possibly a failing sensor when warm?

I can't remember off hand which one affects starting, but cam or crank sensor springs to mind

I've ordered a pair of each for tomorrow, £50 for both from the local factors so cant grumble!

Tim; I’d say that you’ve made the right decision.

Your 1998 car won’t have the type of fuel filter prone to separation and they don’t become blocked in normal use. Besides, you’re quite right to consider the time factor between breakdown and miraculous recovery!
