As for someone who sells cars all day every day I am with you on that, very rare you get one that's looks totally different to others and is distinctive....theyre all a bit "samey"
We are having a change of company car policy at work and so we wont be running new cars (we are a MG dealer) but used ones that we can sell on the pitch, and I can choose within reason and budget something that I like and is economical (no more company fuel either as the tax is more than the fuel) and comfortable... So far all I can think of is something German |

I have to agree with all what's been said. My biggest problem is seeing the flashers when these new cars are turning. They somehow seem to blend into the other lights and seem to get lost. I never seem to have a problem with the older designs. Maybe it's an age thing. Or is it just me

Not sure how I’ve missed this, excellent thread Dave. Out of you original list me and Mrs sworks have owned three Rover coupe’s (one is still my daily driver) and the mk1 Hyundai coupe but we’ve also had a mk2 Hyundai coupe, mk2 XR2’s, mk2 RS2000, Nova SR and GTE, MG Metro and loads of classic minis as well as loads more too many to list. Once the kids came along it was a 400 tourer which was followed by 4 more before 75 ownership. The 400 tourer even today is my favourite tourer as it just looks right and hasn’t aged at all. As already said manufacturers share platforms and are more interested in aerodynamics and fuel economy which tends to result in a certain look of similarity. I see very few new cars that will go on to be future classics.

As you said everything seems to be designed for economy and aerodynamics not a bad thing by any means, but because of that we don't gave many style icons on the roads anymore.

Of course, it helped that it was signed off by the board who were equally as squiffy at the time
