Crank shaft pully
A couple of days ago i got the clicking noise coming from the lower crank pulley when at idle revs.
The garage have taken it off and fitted a new one but when they turned the engine on the rubber shredded within 30 seconds. Thinking it was a duff pulley they ordered another but again this also shredded. They have looked and cannot see anything that would cause this. They are now thinking that it could be a bad batch of pulleys and have ordered a higher priced one for tomorrow, with no extra cost to me and hopefully this will be okay. What do others think of this any advice appreciated The car is an 03 connie auto diesel cdt

Not that I am aware of. The mechanic has checked over everything and cannot find any faults or obstructions, which is why he is thinking its a bad batch of pulleys ?

Maybe your Aircon Pump is stuck? If it is, it will set a lot of pressure on the pully. You should be able the turn the pump round very easily. If it doesn't than that is the cause.
The aircon pump is right in front, and has a seperate belt. That's why the crankshaft pulley is a double one. If it does roll smoothley... The search continous...

crankshaft pulley
There are rubbish ones widely available. Only replace with a Cortico pulley. I think Euro Car Parts stock them

I got one island 4x4, land rover specialist. They supply 2 qualities of part, the more expensive one is the one to get, made by Cortico - excellent quality. Island are good to deal with. Maybe also worth ordering a new bolt also.
