Well Paul, at least you did not lose heart and completed the job.
Have to say, you must all have very large hands, mine went drivers side last week, the dreaded amber light glared me for the day. Left mine till the morning and was dreading doing it having looked for "how to" on here. But, I did just like you described, locked wheel inwards, inspection cover off, light cover seal out, twist bulb ( hardest part ), quick swap of bulbs with latex gloves on, quick twist back in, ignition on, lights on, warning light out, jobs a good un. All under 10 minutes. Small hands obviously have their advantages.

I had lost the will to live by the end. I had bought a Dremel on Friday with the intension of doing the in-line Thermostat mod time permitting but by the end of this sorry tale I had had enough and had no more time available. I hate painting Skirting boards but doing that on Sunday was better than changing a bulb. Oh well, all done for now and maybe I will do the in-line stat mod on Saturday weather permitting and work upto replacing the read wishbone bushes.

I can manage the drivers side with a lot of F'ing and blinding but the passenger side impossible
I go to Scouserics, he changes the thing in 40 seconds

Am I the only one who just goes to Halfords and pays the small amount they charge to put the bulb in for me? Sure, it costs a bit extra but I definitely think it's worth it to avoid all the grief. Passenger side's not a problem for me, but driver's side - over to you, Mr Halford.
