I'm gradually making progress under the bonnet.
I've got the splash panel done and that came up nice using degreaser with a toothbrush followed by cut polish and a spray detailer.
I started working on the suspension turrets using the same products but found the degreaser takes the paint off. Seems it was never clear-coated. I may have to clean them up and repaint them, or if I can save enough of the paint I may just give them a coat of clear.
I still haven't attempted the underside of the bonnet but am gradually working my way up to it. I'm hoping that I don't run into the same paint issue.
WD40 may be a solution. I have used another penetrating lubricant (Tri-Flow) at work for cleaning hydraulic door closer fluid off doors and it does a good job.
I see some of the show 75/ZTs like Rich-Sta's and am hoping I can get mine to look half as good!

I'm going to have to clean up the coolant reservoir as well!.........…........................……………...The wipe-off paint...………………………………………………………………………………...Upcoming Project

Only the monogram cars had clear coat in the engine bay, and even some of those went without.

Re-painting and clear coating the 'bay is quite a straightforward job though, and you can get excellent results just with rattle cans if your careful. The hardest, most time consuming part is masking up, but even this is not too onerous if you just do one area at a time.

I've repainted awkward spots in engine bays before so that may be the route to take. There are the tricks like using aluminum foil to mask pipes and wiring.
The only catch here in Canada is that MGR touch-up paint isn't available so I will have to get some cans custom mixed. (At the equivalant of 15 quid a can!)

Yup, foil over pipes, and rags to plug holes is simplest - you clearly know what you're doing .

Shame about the paint availability, but probably still worth it for the difference it should make.

LOL! Not my first rodeo that's for sure.
Like everyone else I seem to have lots of time on my hands to do the work.
Hopefully when I'm done I will be able to show off the results.

Looking forward to the photos - it's always nice to see a well detailed engine bay
