ABS fault readings
I had the ABS system diagnosis memory read using a Smartbox reader, and got the following messages:
Code001; Wheel sensor front left (plausible). Code002; Incorrect Toothed gear fitted to one of the wheels. I guess the first message indicates a sensor fault or wiring fault, but what does the second message indicate. Has the tooth fairy been swapping my gears? |

Generic readers are handy,
but I wouldn't rely on them for fault diagnosis like this as different codes have different meanings depending on maker of car. Only correct codes can be fully obtained on a T4. Do you have a ABS Problem? ABS wheel sensors are quite common fault for going. |

ABS Warning Lamp
The wretched warning lamp stayed off for a couple of weeks, but came back on again yesterday.
I had a look at the sensor wiring, but could not readily see how the multiplug connector (the one clipped to the wheelarch adjacent to the battery) can be separated. Do you pull it, squeeze it, twist it, or what? I bought a CD Rom workshop manual for the 75, the official Rover one, and was surprised at the lack of info on the ABS system. Have I missed it 'cos its hidden away somewhere, or did the technical writers just not know the car was fitted with ABS? |
