Symphony radio into Contemporary facelift model
I have a 2005 Contemporary SE 2.5 v6 auto with an after-market Kenwood radio/CD. Assuming (always a risky thing to do) that the wiring loom remained constant between Mark 1 and Mark 2 models, will fitting a Symphony radio (from SMC) be a practical proposition? I wish to retain the steering wheel controls. Also I would like to replace the CD changer function with an MP3 player. Is it a relatively simple procedure such as redirecting the CD changer leads to an MP3 interface? At present there is a CD changer in the boot.
Thank you in anticipation. |

cant help with retro fitting but as far as mp3 players go I have a sony 20gb walkman in place of my cd changer and it works perfectly, I have a connects 2 adaptor which converts the cd changer lead to the correct conection, the steering wheel controls work perfectly, I leave mine on random and just skip to the next track when I dont like a song that comes on.
One thing to note is that the symphony radio dose not display text so you cant have any track info but I dont find that a problem. Richard |

My sony walkman lives in the glove box as this is where my cd changer was, I have also fitted a three way power socket in there so it never goes flat and I can also plug in a phone charger, sat nav etc.
I will take some pictures if I get a chance to day, just off to look at replacements for my mother inlaws rover 200 gsi which some kind soul reversed into the other day. richard |

better late than never
as promised took some pictures.
sony walkman plugs into first connects 2 adapter which changes the signal to the same format as the CD changer which plugs into the second connects 2 adapter which plugs into the symphony loom, (this second one was already installed in my car. as stated I have wired a three way power socket in to glove box and get the walkman power from here. hope this helps.
