Default front wheel arch liners

Hi, my front nearside wheel arch liner is in need of repair, but only along the front edge, where it closes off the bumper panel, Rather than spend £50 od buying a new one, has anyone tried plastic welding a new section in,
I saw an u tube post where someone used part of a plastic bucket and using a blow torch joined a new bit to an old liner, I happen to have an old plastic bucket that's split. so a ready source of suitable material whats your thoughts, the rest of the liner is fine, its just the bottom bit that looks like its been shredded by something.

Try using a soldering iron, might be more controllable, heat wise?

I'd probably just buy a new liner - when they come adrift they can rip out the ABS sensor and brake wear sensor wiring. Seen this a couple of times now!
